AbBA - Allianz bedrohter Berliner Atelierhäuser

Im Zuge der Kündigung aus unserem Atelierhaus PostOst habe ich mit AbBA (und später auch AKKU) einige kunstpolitischen Aktionen initiiert.

Hintergrund: Der Kunststandort Berlin droht von der privaten und öffentlichen Immobilienwirtschaft weggespült zu werden. Das Ateliersterben in Berlin war noch nie so schlimm wie in 2014/15. Fünf Atelierstandorte mit ca. 150 Künstlern wurden von privaten Eigentümern geschlossen. Zahlreiche Standorte sind in ihrer Existenz bedroht. 10 Atelierhäuser, mit über 500 Künstlern, haben sich daher zu AbBA zusammengeschlossen um gemeinsam den Ateliernotstand in Berlin zu bekämpfen.

2015 - "Aktion Plane" am ehemaligen Haus der Statistik (Alexanderplatz). Entgegen existierender Pläne, das Haus zugunsten von Investorenarchitektur abzureissen, leitet AbBA mit Hängung einer grossen Plane mit der Aufschrift "Hier entstehen Räume für Kunst, Bildung und Soziales" die Gründung des Modellprojektes Haus der Statistik ein.

2017 - Paneltalks "Künstler*innen vs Creatives" im Haus der Berliner Festspiele. Panel Global – Creative Classes und Großes Geld (Sprache: english);Panel Lokal – Berliner Weg zwischen Schutzraum und Bottom-Up-Initiativen.

2017 - Critical Mass Mobile - /m ZK/U. Eine tragbarer Sightseeing Bus wird zum Site-Seeing Bus. Destination: fünf Nordberliner Kulturorte, die stadtpolitische Errungenschaften präsentieren.

2018 - Weak Art Award - Zur Art Week vergibt AbBA erstmalig diesen Preis für “herausragende Leistungen zur Schwächung der Kunst in Berlin”. Ausschreibung, Jurysitzung und Preisverleihung. Gewinnr 2018: Immobilieninvestor Udo Schlömer und das Gewerbemietrecht

2019 - mit AKKU. "Berlin, steh zu uns". Transparentaktion und aktivistische Performance

AbBA - Alliance of endangered Studio Houses in Berlin

Facing the eviction of our shared studio house PostOst, we co-founded the activist group AbBA. With AbBA and later also AKKU, I co-initiated a couple of art-political actions.

In 2014, the situation of Berlin's art studios, especially collective studio houses, was worsening. The influence of private and public real estate practices became more and more apparent, as five of these places (with working facilities for 150 artists) were evicted or shut down in 2014/2015 and numerous houses were in danger of following the same fate. Therefore, the Alliance of endangered Studio Houses (AbBA) was founded to take these developments ot the public.

2015 - "Aktion Plane" at the former ministry of statistics, a building planned to be torn down, AbBA installed a huge poster saying "Upcoming: Spaces for Artistic, Educational and Social work". The idea took off and was the cornerstone of the Modellprojekt Haus der Statistik.

2017 - Paneltalks "Artist vs Creatives" @ Haus der Berliner Festspiele Panel Global – Creative Classes, Big Money; Panel Lokal – Can Berlin find a way alongside protectionism and bottom-up initiative?

2017 - Critical Mass Mobil - /w ZK/U. A critical walking tour in solidarity to five art sites in Berlin in a portable site-seeing bus.

2018 - Weak Art Award - The Art Week turns sour. For the first time, AbBA presents this award for "weakening the art world". Open Call, jury and ceremony. Winners 2018: Real Estate Investor Udo Schlömer and Germany's Gewerbemietrecht (commercial tenancy law)

2019 - with AKKU. "Berlin, stand with us". Transparents and activist performance
